For example, some municipalities may require you to get a permit before a tank is installed on your property. Another municipality may require you to install an insect mesh at the top of the tank. Overflow Pipe Position
It is wise to pick a location that will allow you to channel the water from the overflow pipe as far away from the tank base as possible without putting other aspects of your property, such as the foundation of the house, at risk. That overflow water can eventually erode the base of your tank in case you don't direct that water away from that sensitive zone.
Accessibility
Identify an installation location that will not make the tank inconvenience you while you access different parts of your property. For example, the tank should not be placed where it will block the way to your garden at the back of the house.
